THE DNA: A DOUBLE HELICAL BIO-MOLECULE WITH DUAL PROPERTIES?

THE DNA: A DOUBLE HELICAL BIO-MOLECULE WITH DUAL PROPERTIES?

Hidden somewhere within the complex helices of our DNA and functioning in close association with it could be another system of information storage that is so highly conserved it may only be found in naturally occurring DNA and which transmits from one generation to the next traits that define us as humans: consciousness, intelligence, our mannerisms, and tastes as well as our personality traits and memory.

In other words, these characteristics contrary to popular knowledge are probably not coded for by our DNA but by a completely different system which exists in close association with the DNA thus making it look like they might be coded for by the DNA when they are not, and as a matter of fact no definitive gene or group of genes have been identified that code for these characteristics.

The evidence taken individually are at best circumstantial, but when analyzed as a whole, a pattern starts to emerge.

If it is assumed that the law of causation which ties in well with Newton’s first law of motion and once spoken of by Einstein this way … “there is no effect without a cause and there is no lawlessness in creation” … applies to everything including the brain, it then means that something must cause the brain to work the way it does. Something from within the brain must constantly stimulate it to cause all our deliberate actions (speech, thoughts, coordinated deliberate movements etc.).

In the same way that different energy types carry information into the brain through special sensors (the sense organs) to stimulate it and present to it information about its surroundings, it can be argued also that the process of getting information out of the brain should start with an energy stimulating the brain from within, this energy perhaps originating from a special organ within the brain. I have no idea what form this energy takes, but we may be able to hazard a few guesses. (You can read an earlier post here for more details)

The likely characteristics of this special energy were mentioned in the earlier post, one of which is the ability of this energy to self-replicate, a property also displayed only by the DNA, making the DNA the most likely biological structure capable of interacting with this elusive energy since they share similar properties. Meaning this energy did not emerge as a consequence of the structure of the DNA, but rather it is a distinct entity with the special characteristics discussed earlier, which associated with the DNA after it might have caused its synthesis, since our first assumption is that it has to possess the ability to cause events and cause itself in order for it to remain the most fundamental cause, and to possess all the properties earlier listed.

Since this energy is the most fundamental energy, it means it cannot be produced by any known means and will have to remain highly conserved on whatever biological structure it associates with i.e., the DNA. If this energy is responsible for consciousness and intelligence, and it also transmits these characteristics through generations, it means that as the DNA replicates itself to duplicate the codes for the other characteristics it controls during the earlier stages of cellular replication and formation of daughter cells, this energy which is also capable of self-replication also replicates itself, so that the daughter cells can have the full complement of characteristics. This has to be the only way this energy gets to move from one cell to another and thus from one generation to another. So, for artificially created DNA and chromosomes to become fully functional, this energy has to be transferred onto the artificially created DNA from a naturally occurring one.

The question then arises, which process comes first: DNA replication or energy replication. The more likely sequence of events will be as follows:

At the moment of cellular replication, this energy starts to replicate.

Its replication then serves as a signal to the DNA to commence its own replication.

This is because the energy is more fundamental. In other words, this energy is perhaps the most important control of the cell cycle, and it perhaps suppresses 'mindless' indiscriminate cellular replication.

If this were to be the case, then the consequences could be far-reaching, because the consequences of this energy being absent from a cell would be that that cell loses the natural inhibition of disorganized, undeliberate cell replication, and thus starts to replicate out of control. This perhaps could be the fundamental pathogenesis of cancers.

The loss of the cell's most fundamental cell cycle control as a result of this energy's absence from the cell could cause the up-regulation of specific proteins necessary for the cell's rapid indiscriminate replication which had earlier been suppressed, and thus targeting these proteins could be a way to cure cancers.

I had argued in a previous post, that if there was a second system of information storage and transmission which is so highly conserved it can only be found coexisting with naturally occurring DNA, proving it should be a matter of synthesizing the entire genome of an animal say a mouse, and cloning a fully grown mouse from that. The technology to do that already exists.

Doing this should remove the effect of what this second system codes for: consciousness, intelligence, personality traits etc., and should be definitive proof of the existence of another system that stores information about us and transmits it through generations.

The expectations therefore should be that animals cloned from a 100% artificial DNA should not exhibit the characteristics of consciousness or intelligence.

But there just might be an alternative method; cloning an animal from a repaired cancer cell.

In conclusion, our human qualities are so advanced that even the process of evolution which gave rise to the most advanced thing known – the brain – could not produce the intelligence and the consciousness to power it. May be this could explain why at just 1230g, way below the average weight of the brain of an adult male (1400g), Einstein was still capable of displaying the impressive level of intelligence and awareness of nature that he did. Perhaps our search for extra-terrestrial intelligence is fundamentally flawed, and maybe ‘we’ are the aliens in this universe.
